ArcGIS 故事地圖應用比賽2023/24 – 運用人口普查數據說故事
數學是地理資訊系統（GIS）應用過程中不可或缺的知識。地理資訊系統是分析和呈現人口普查數據的重要工具，當中與數學知識的應用有莫大關係。為推動地理資訊系統在數學科的應用，GIS學院（GIS Academy）現與政府統計處聯合舉辦「ArcGIS 故事地圖應用比賽2023/24 – 運用人口普查數據說故事」，旨在提高學生的應用數學、數據素養、解難及創新能力，有助學生將GIS與數學科融會貫通。
Mathematics is an indispensable knowledge in the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). For analyzing and visualizing census data, GIS is a crucial technology that its application is closely related to mathematical knowledge. In order to promote the application of GIS in mathematics education, GIS Academy is co-organized with the Census and Statistics Department to organize the “ArcGIS StoryMaps Application Competition 2023/24–Telling Stories Using Census Data” aiming to enhance students’ skills in applied mathematics, data literacy, problem-solving, and innovation, empowering them to integrate mathematics with GIS.
比賽目的 Competition Goal
人口數據與我們日常生活息息相關，政府統計處於「空間數據共享平台」提供了30多種不同種類的人口數據，同學透過地理資訊系統ArcGIS GIS平台以數理分析人口數據，了解本港各區的人口特徵，結合在研習過程中得到的成果，為社區發展提出更「貼地」的倡議。
Population data is closely related to our daily lives. The Census and Statistics Department, through the “Common Spatial Data Infrastructure Portal”, provides over 30 different types of population data. Students can utilize the ArcGIS GIS platform to analyze population data mathematically and gain insights into the demographic characteristics of various districts in Hong Kong. By combining this data with their research findings, they can propose more “down-to-earth” initiatives for social development.
比賽內容 Competition Content
比賽以人口數據為主題。參賽隊伍可圍繞人口數據，配合數學科及統計學知識，運用ArcGIS Online的故事地圖（ArcGIS StoryMaps）製作報告。參賽隊伍須提交一個故事地圖及兩分鐘內的短片簡介，匯報自訂的主題，實踐數學科知識解決生活問題，並藉此提升蒐集及整理資料能力和創意。
The competition revolves around the theme of population data. Participating teams are encouraged to utilize mathematics and statistics knowledge and leverage the features of ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS StoryMaps to create a StoryMaps presentation. Each participating team is required to submit an ArcGIS StoryMap and a short video introduction within two minutes, presenting a customized theme that applies mathematics to address real-life issues. Through this competition, participants have the opportunity to enhance their data collection, organization, and creative abilities.
比賽方法
比賽歡迎全港中學參與，負責教師可填妥網上表格報名參加，亦歡迎同學在沒有教師的帶領下自組隊伍參賽。GIS 學院會為學校提供免費的比賽專用ArcGIS戶口。立即參與比賽，以趣味及互動方式學習，並運用故事地圖闡述不同STEAM概念。

The competition welcomes participation from secondary schools across Hong Kong. Teachers can complete the online registration form to enroll in the competition. Students are also encouraged to form their teams and participate in the competition without the guidance of a teacher. The GIS Academy will provide free ArcGIS accounts to the participating schools for the competition. Join the competition now to engage in interactive and enjoyable learning experiences and utilize StoryMaps to articulate various STEAM concepts.
參賽資格
- 所有於2023/24學年就讀本地中一至中六學生 All students from secondary schools (S.1 – S.6) in the academic year 2023/24
- 參賽者可以個人名義或經由學校報名參加 Entries are welcomed on either an individual basis or via school application*
- 參賽學校的作品數量不限 Numbers of entries from participating schools are not restricted
- 參賽者須以2- 6人組成隊伍參賽 Participants must form a team of 2-6 people to compete
- 參賽費用全免 No fee shall be charged for entering the competition
- * 如經學校報名，參賽者及其代表學校均獲發參賽證書一張 If the contestants apply via school, both contestants and the school will be granted a certificate of participation
比賽對象 Competition Categories
- 比賽分初中組(S.1-S.3)及高中組(S.4-S.6)
- 參加者須組隊參賽；每隊人數最少二人，上限六人。
- 參加者或隊伍准以不同題目重複參賽。
- 每間學校的參賽組別數目不設上限。
- The competition divided into two category for secondary schools.
- Participants are required to compete in teams. Each team should consist of a minimum of two members and a maximum of six members.
- Participants or teams are allowed to participate repeatedly in the competition with different topics.
- There is no limit to the number of participating teams from each school.
參賽組別及作品格式 Entry Format
各參賽隊伍需於2024 年 5 月 05 日下午6時前 將以下文件提交至網上系統。
All contestants are required to submit the following materials by 18:00, May 05, 2024 (Sunday) to the online system.
故事地圖 StoryMap
表述參賽作品如何透過地理資訊系統ArcGIS GIS平台分析人口數據，了解本港各區的人口特徵，結合在研習過程中得到的成果, 為社區發展提出更「貼地」的倡議。
Describe how the competition entry utilized the ArcGIS GIS platform to analyze population data and gain insights into the demographic characteristics of various districts in Hong Kong. By combining this data with their research findings, they proposed more “down-to-earth” initiatives for social development.

評審委員會的決定為最終決定。Decisions made by the Judging Panel shall be final.
獎項 Prizes
我們準備了多種獎項及獎品予參賽者及優勝者。除最積極參與學校獎外，以下各獎項均設初中及高中得獎組別各一隊。得獎隊伍可獲現金獎、精美獎盃及比賽證書。
We have prepared a variety of awards and prizes to contestants and winners. In addition to the “Most Active Participation School Award”, there will be separate awards for both junior and senior secondary school participants, with one winner in. Each each category will have one winner. The winning team will receive cash prizes, trophies, and certificates as recognition for their achievements.
